I'm finishing the restoration on my 68 and had to have the Radiator support sandblasted and repainted. When I removed the front lamp wiring harness I noticed that there was a condensor attached to the voltage regulator.


1) Do I need to have a condensor at all if I am using a MSD Pro billet distributor and MSD 6AL ignition box??


2) I thought the condensor was for the AM radio humming noise??

Condenser (capacitor) absorbs the voltage surge in the car's wiring from the points as they open and close in the voltage regulator.

I was wondering what the hell that thing next to the voltage regulator was. Yellow cylinder looking thing? Mine is a 68 too. I don't think you need either if you're running an HEI and updated alternator (with internal voltage regulator).

When i put in my pertronix in my distributor i elminated all the condensers. I am also running an msd 6a with it .
